My name is Amy Soto. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. I graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. In 1991, I accepted a position at Pulaski Elementary School in Savannah,GA. teaching second grade. Being a military family, we moved from Savannah to the Atlanta area, teaching at Argyle Elementary, Hayes Elementary and finally Ford Elementary! After several courses taken through Armstrong State University, a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education was obtained from Cambridge College in Massachusetts. Gifted Endorsement, Science Endorsement, and Teacher Mentor Certification have been added educational experiences.
I am the wife of Master SGT. Soto (retired) and mother of Jacqueline and Matthew Soto. Both children are former Ford Mustangs. Having enjoyed the excellent education provided through our fantastic teachers at Ford, Durham, and Allatoona, now we are proud Kennesaw Owls and love the superior opportunities provided while being close to home. It has made being an "empty nester" much less heartbreaking.
Being a Gifted Specialist has been an outstanding opportunity. Working with and meeting the needs of students who are high achieving has been a passion of mine since my own children qualified for this program. Understanding and meeting the needs of students, both educationally and emotionally, has been a goal for our program at Ford Elementary.
My name is Nicole Harrison. I’m a local girl from Kennesaw and a proud product of the CCSD. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2001 and received my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Georgia in 2005. I’ve worked in various schools over the last 14 years, and trust me, Ford is the BEST!!! I have an intense love of learning, and since 2005, I have obtained my Reading Endorsement, Teacher Mentor Certification, and my beloved Gifted Endorsement.
I am blessed with an amazing family. My husband, Heath, and I have been married for 11 years. We have a wonderful son, Aaron, who challenges us with an inquisitiveness like no other. I’m certain Aaron will become a lawyer one day; he can argue and debate better than anyone I know. As a family, we enjoy travelling, camping, being active outdoors, and going to the movies. Personally, I am an avid reader and devoted coffee drinker.
I love being a Gifted Specialist at Ford Elementary! I love inspiring children to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. I love that I can help grow children creatively and emotionally. I love that gifted children teach me something new every day. I'm honored to be part of your child's educational journey.
